Subject: GIS RESEARCH ASSISTANT Job Opening at Archbold Biological Station
Archbold is seeking a bright, intellectually curious person to fill the technical support position of GIS Research Assistant to collect spatial datasets using an unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) in support of ongoing research. Incumbent will report to the GIS/Data Manager and work with research staff and outside agencies.
Primary duties include:
ÃfÂ¢Ã’ÂEURÃ’Â¢Maintaining, calibrating, and providing oversight of all lab electronic equipment (UAVs, Trimble GPS, etc)
ÃfÂ¢Ã’ÂEURÃ’Â¢Providing support in spatial analysis, map making, setting up mobile field data collection apps
ÃfÂ¢Ã’ÂEURÃ’Â¢Assisting in other Archbold related activities
ÃfÂ¢Ã’ÂEURÃ’Â¢BachelorÃfÂ¢Ã’ÂEURÃ’Â(tm)s degree in Environmental Science, Biology, GIS or related field
ÃfÂ¢Ã’ÂEURÃ’Â¢Experience with ESRIs ArcGIS software, including ArcGIS online
ÃfÂ¢Ã’ÂEURÃ’Â¢Experience working with high resolution imagery
ÃfÂ¢Ã’ÂEURÃ’Â¢Must obtain FAA part 107 remote pilot license within 1 month of employment
ÃfÂ¢Ã’ÂEURÃ’Â¢Working with UAVs
ÃfÂ¢Ã’ÂEURÃ’Â¢Working with ESRIs Drone2Map software, or other software for stitching together drone imagery
ÃfÂ¢Ã’ÂEURÃ’Â¢Analyzing high resolution remote sensing data
ÃfÂ¢Ã’ÂEURÃ’Â¢Working with electronic equipment
