2020-2021 Lakes Region Conservation Corps – New Hampshire

Purpose/objective:
The Lakes Regions Conservation Corps (LRCC) is a 22.5 week AmeriCorps service program that develops skills and experiences for conservation professionals. LRCC members are the driving force behind many of the conservation efforts of New Hampshire’s Lakes Region.  The LRCC has positions available at the following host sites:

Ãf¢ÒÂEURÒ¢    Camp Hale (2) – Sandwich, NH
Ãf¢ÒÂEURÒ¢    Green Mountain Conservation Group (2) – Effingham, NH
Ãf¢ÒÂEURÒ¢    Newfound Lake Region Association (2) – Bristol, NH
Ãf¢ÒÂEURÒ¢    Squam Lakes Association (6) – Holderness, NH
Ãf¢ÒÂEURÒ¢    Squam Lakes Conservation Society (2) – Holderness, NH

Key responsibilities may include*:
Ãf¢ÒÂEURÒ¢    Engage youth and adults in environmental education.
Ãf¢ÒÂEURÒ¢    Lead volunteer crews.
Ãf¢ÒÂEURÒ¢    Work toward the eradication of invasive species in the lakes and watershed.
Ãf¢ÒÂEURÒ¢    Maintain and construct regional trail networks.
Ãf¢ÒÂEURÒ¢    Develop conservation protocols and reports.
*Each host site operates independently and may not participate in all of the above, and may have additional responsibilities not listed.

Qualifications*
Ãf¢ÒÂEURÒ¢    Must be 18 years old by May 20th, 2021
Ãf¢ÒÂEURÒ¢    Must be covered by health insurance for the duration of program
Ãf¢ÒÂEURÒ¢    Must be a US citizen, US national, or legal permanent resident
Ãf¢ÒÂEURÒ¢    Must clear all required national service criminal history checks
Ãf¢ÒÂEURÒ¢    Must be a high school graduate, GED recipient, or be working towards obtaining one during term of service
Ãf¢ÒÂEURÒ¢    Able to work independently and with a group

Commitment:
May 20, 2021 through October 24, 2021 and a minimum of 900 hours

Training/support provided to all host sites (other trainings provided based on host site)*:
Ãf¢ÒÂEURÒ¢    NH Safe Boating certification
Ãf¢ÒÂEURÒ¢    NH Commercial boating license
Ãf¢ÒÂEURÒ¢    Wilderness First Aid & CPR certifications
Ãf¢ÒÂEURÒ¢    Living allowance: $211 weekly, distributed biweekly (before taxes)
Ãf¢ÒÂEURÒ¢    Student loan forbearance for qualifying loans
Ãf¢ÒÂEURÒ¢    AmeriCorps Education Award of $3,097.50 received upon completion of specified term length and a minimum 900 hours.
Ãf¢ÒÂEURÒ¢    Provided housing with kitchen facilities, or a $250 biweekly housing allowance (dependent on host site)
